Save Small, Dream Big! Earn a $20.00 deposit for Youth Month!

Publish: April 1, 2022

April is National Credit Union Youth Month!
Save Small, Dream BIG!
ALL Youth ages 0-17 can earn up to $20.00 deposited into their account. That’s $20.00 for free!

This year, we are once again giving every child a monetary prize! Each age group will be required to complete a short remote learning experience through our Financial Wellness Center for the $20.00 deposit! The age groups will be split into 3 groups. 0-5, which is mainly for the parents of children; 6-12, for the young child; and 13-17, lessons for older children. Each age group will be required to read specified articles in our Financial Wellness Center and complete questions and/or activities associated with those articles or courses. Please email the completed questions/assignments to [email protected] with the subject “Youth Month” or text the completed answers to 270.684.8954. Be sure to include both your name and your child’s (or grandchild’s) name as this is the only way we will be able to know who to apply the monetary credit to. (If you are older with your own email address or phone, please include your full name as well). We will also be sending out an email with this information, direct links and the questions so feel free to respond to that email with your answers if you find that to be easier.

The money will only be deposited into the child’s account so if the child does not have an account, don’t worry! You are welcome to open one at any time and be eligible for the prize! In addition to in-person account opening, we offer a fully remote online account opening experience so feel free to text or call us to get the process started!

Don’t forget! Anyone under 18 who makes a single deposit of $5.00 or more to their DCTFCU savings account during Youth Month will automatically be a part of the savings challenge and be placed in the drawing for a cash prize of $50.00! We are excited to see you all join us in celebrating “Save Small, Dream Big” in April for National Credit Union Youth Month!

YOUTH MONTH FAQ:

  1. My child doesn’t have an account, can he/she open one and be eligible for the deposit?
Yes, your child can open an account at any point in the month of April and be eligible for the deposit, however, the assignments MUST be completed and submitted by April 30th.
  2. Where can I find the assignments to complete for the deposit? How do I submit my assignment?
We will be sending out an email where you can respond directly to the email with your answers or you can find the assignments, questions, and links listed above. You can respond directly to the email, send the assignments to [email protected], or text the answers to 270.684.8954. Please include yours and your child’s full name and specify that it is “YOUTH MONTH” in the subject line or in the beginning of your text.
  3. Can I make multiple entries for the $50 drawing?
Yes, you can submit multiple entries, BUT only one entry per day. $5.00 is the minimum amount to deposit to be eligible to be placed it the drawing.
  4. What is the age range for the youth month assignments?
The age range is 0-17. There are 3 assignments with different age ranges. Please find the assignments that fit the age of your child and submit those.
  5. Where can I find all of the links?
You will find the links in our Financial Wellness Center located on our main web page or listed above.
  6. When should I expect the $20.00 deposit?
We will be doing our best to keep track of each assignment submission on a weekly basis. You should expect to see the deposit made on the Friday of the week you submitted the assignment or the following Monday. We will be doing the best we can to keep these deposit dates. If you do not see your deposit by the end of the month, give us a call to make sure there has been no error in receiving your assignments.
  7. Can I open an account online or do I need to come in?
Yes, you can open an account online, but you will not be able to click the “Open an Account” button on our homepage. To open an account for your child without coming in, you will need to either text to request an account or call to request an account so we can gather all the necessary information for the paperwork. You will need your child’s social security number and a valid driver’s license for yourself. If your address is not updated on your license, we will need proof of address as well. We will then get your DocuSign ready and you should expect to receive that either via text or email, whichever you prefer. Once we receive the $5.00 deposit and the necessary documentation back, the account will be opened and you can submit the assignment. You are more than welcome to come in if you feel that is easiest.
  8. How is my child entered into the Youth Month drawing?
To be entered, you will need to call or come in to the credit union to make a deposit and let an employee know this is for a youth account. Then the employee will fill out the Savings Challenge entry. If you have an automatic deposit to a youth account already in place, it is eligible for the drawing, but you will need to call and let us know that deposit was made so we can place the entry in the drawing.
  9. Do automatic deposits count towards the drawing?
Automatic deposits will only count if you call in and let us the know the deposit went in and you would like for us to fill out an entry form for you.
