IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR WALK DAY
- IF YOU ARE JOINING:
Please wear your purple DCTFCU shirt! Purple is the Alzheimer’s color so it’s the perfect shirt to wear! Also, feel free to add any purple flair you may want like beads or bracelets. There will be temporary tattoos and face painting as well! - WHERE TO GO:
Arrive at 1:30 pm. We will have our tent set up in the Memorial Gardens area between the restroom pavilion and the fountains at Smothers Park. If you plan to join us, meet us there to make sure you are registered. - WHAT TO EXPECT:
Once you verified that you are registered, visit our tent to get your Walk to End Alzheimer’s button. Then feel free hang around, talk, and walk through the different tents! It’s going to be a fun time! The brief ceremony will then start at 2:15pm outside the Restroom Pavilion facing the fountains with the walk to follow beginning on W Veterans Blvd adjacent to that area. The event is rain or shine! We are hopeful for no rain, but we’ll still be there if it does! Join us with your umbrellas!
Event Opens/Registration: 1:30pm
Ceremony: 2:15pm
Walk: 2:30pm
DONATING:
- Still 2 ways to donate! Place your donation with us at the CU or through the team link to donate directly to the fund.
- We are giving “Forget Me Not” flower seeds for donations placed and placing your name on the END IT wall!

All of us here at DCTFCU are proud to both sponsor and participate as a team for the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in honor of our beloved friend and co-worker Sonya Bartlett. Sonya was the sharpest, most intelligent and most poised. She was an integral team member, shaping the credit union from its earliest stages in the little white house to instilling the processes that promoted growth and made the loan department what you see today. She exuded confidence, tenderness, and grace and always left you wondering how she seems to do it all effortlessly.
Sonya was also one of the victims of this horrendous disease and our team has seen and been deeply affected by its devastating effects. We want to walk to honor Sonya and all of our loved ones we’ve shared deep experiences with, cared for and held so close as we watched every aspect of who they are slip away from us in front our very eyes.
We would love to have you join with us as we support this cause in her honor and all our loved ones that have lost themselves to this destructive disease. If you have a story, please share it! If you feel inclined, please donate! If you’re feeling social, please join our team! We would love to share in this together as a group! We have created a wall at the credit union to honor ALL our loved ones, please call, text or come by and add your loved one’s name to our “END ALZHEIMER’S FOR OUR LOVED ONES” wall. And go ahead and click the link to be a part of what we’re doing to help END IT!
