We are excited to announce that we are officially compatible with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay! You are now able to add both your debit and credit cards to the passbook or pay app of your choosing and begin paying with the touch of your phone. Now before you think to yourself, “that’s too scary, there is no way I am adding my card to my phone!” let’s help bring understanding to the security measures that have been put in place to allow this method of payment to be secure. When you add your cards to the digital wallet, it encrypts your card number and will only show the last 4 digits in the wallet. In addition to keeping your full PAN number hidden, the card number is also encrypted and altered as you pay. That means when you use your phone to pay, the merchant is not receiving your actual card number, but an encrypted, alternative number instead. This ensures that if the merchant were to fall victim to a hack, your real card number would be kept safe since it was not sent over in the transaction. In the event that your phone may become lost or stolen, the digital wallet apps have security measures in place in the form of passwords and biometric authentication. Your cards in those apps will stay as secure as your mobile banking app. We know it can feel scary to put your card on your phone and the decision is entirely up to you. Adding your cards to these digital wallets is surprisingly easy! We have added new links on the menu in our mobile app for quick access to your digital wallet. By opening those links, you will be directed to your passbook or directed to download the wallet app you choose. Once you are in, you can find the “add a card” link to begin adding your card either manually or by hovering your camera over the card. After capturing the numbers, it will ask for authentication via the email address or phone number we have on file associated with your card here. After verification, your card will be ready to use!
